Can't do it all

And I finally admitted it.

I called my PCP and got my meltdown out of the way. I left with a script for an SSRI.

I started it this week...hopefully it will help. I was talking to one of my favorite L&D nurses and evidently there had been a betting pool on how long it would take me to admit that I'm really stressed. Thanks guys!

On the upside, when I lay on my back all day, my knee doesn't hurt. ;) I'm on call again this weekend and hosting turkey day...how much do you want to bet that I end up needing to leave my own party?

Good luck. I hope you feel better soon. Believe me, also being in solo practice I REALLY understand.

I hope the Call Gods are good to you.

Ditto what Grumpy MD said. Happy Thanksgiving to you!

I hope you can find some way to be gentle to yourself in the midst of all of this. Make some of those men get off the sofa and into the kitchen for a change! (You can always threaten to whack them with crutches if necessary!) I hope things improve for you soon. Happy Turkey Day!

blaze - I needed to do that today!

Except, I'm male, and the couch sitters were female.

And they never help anyway, so I shouldn't have expected differently.

Then, they complain about how long it is taking. Then they come into the (small) kitchen, and end just getting in the way.

Ended up driving about 300 miles to make Thanksgiving dinner, clean half the house, and clean up after everything ...

I figured as I started to write this that I'd be able to make it funny somehow ... Epic fail on my part ... and I don't want to just delete this, since I did put thought into it ...

So, maybe discuss amongst yourselves ... :)

Ain't life grand? :)

My turkey party will be Saturday. I spent yesterday goofing off sans family (DH took Mom and kids to Michigan for the holiday). Didn't get a single page all day. I was invited to go to different nurses' homes, but I just wanted to be alone. The family will be back today.

And yes, my cell was working - I got texts from friends.

Phillip, you're welcome at my house any time! Guests here don't do anything but chat with us, as they are company and I'm kinda traditional that way. I'm fixing the usual feast. Went grocery shopping yesterday afternoon...store was empty. That was nice too.

One of these days, I may take you up on it! In fact, you are welcome at mine as well! No worries for you then, though you'd likely be a ways away from your patients, in case of emergency.

I don't mind cooking - I do mind when people don't do anything at all to help (these particular people never do, frankly) ...

It is starting to jade me on the holidays - ugh. With SSRI in hand (rather, stomach!) - Thinking that friends together are much better than various family dramas!
