I was reading the OB/Gyn News (yes, an actual journal) the other day. It gives brief reviews of conferences, important articles, and some commentary.
Robotics is a big issue in surgical fields right now. As you can guess, there's a lot of crap research being done on it. One such paper was presented at the AAGL conference recently. The researcher is QUOTED as saying "Well, if you eliminate those complications, robotic hysterectomy has the same complication rate as laparoscopic or vaginal hysterectomies."
WTF?????? Yes, they had similar complication rates for many things, but there is one particular risk of robotic surgery that the others DO NOT HAVE. Period. And then to claim that robotic surgery is as safe as traditional minimally invasive surgery? Bullshit.
The scientist in me died a little bit.

Well, I'd imagine there are fewer complications in delivering robot babies that human ones, provided you plug them in to charge as soon as they come out.
And changing the oil is cleaner than diapering. ;)
and cheaper to grow up too!
