Physical Therapists

Are sadists. I'm convinced. I look at Gordon when he tells me to do some exercise and ask "Are you INSANE?" There's no way my knee will bend that far. And my poor quads are spasming away from the effort.

But somehow, he makes it so. And it seems to be helping, as I can now bend my knee more than 90 degrees.

The real test will be tomorrow - my first official day back in the OR. I don't trust my leg right now. But I need to get back full force.

I don't do this patient thing very well.

Wait a minute, wait a minute! I though you were going to take it easier after Monday?

My daughter had ACL repair and wouldn't do the prescribed therapy. The doc just pressed all his weight on her knee to "loosen it up"...she did her exercises after that.

Oddly, my patients tell me the same thing about PT.

My sister who is an OT gets told that a lot. :)

I took Tuesday off completely - traded call with my cross-coverage. Had to operate today...didn't want those women to have to reschedule their surgeries. Fortunately, one canceled her hysterectomy, so I only had 3 cases on.

I halved my office hours tomorrow.

Sad thing is, working only 2 days this week is a huge cutback in my hours.

Yeah, it's scary. That's the trade-off in solo practice.

We eat what we kill. We don't have to share with others, but when we are out we aren't earning dollars.

I'm a PT, and all I have to say to that is...thank you! I've been called "pure torture", "physical terrorist", "pain and torture", etc. We dont necessarily enjoy seeing people in pain, but we know that to get results, you have to work at it! Keep going!

Nikki,
Gordon calls me his most motivated patient. Because I HAVE to get back into shape. I have too many people relying on me not to be fully functional. So I do the #$%&&*^&$%# exercises. But it hurts like hell!
