Update

The disadvantage of being in BFE: everyone knows your business. And since I have an unusual last name, it's pretty easy to guess when I am the patient (like last night in vascular lab).

I am hospital-employed, solo practice in a clinic setting. So the hospital has a vested interest in knowing how I am feeling and whether or not I am healthy.

Risk management stopped by earlier. I have been informed that I am NOT going to work while still on crutches.

"But, but, but...."

"No. The liability is too much for OB." (she's probably right). "It's the hospital's problem how to cover your call."

"And besides, do YOU want to screw up your knee even more?"

I gave up, knowing that I would never win against her. Plus she was right (but I won't admit it).

I think this is good. You need to get better.

Remember- you can't take of anyone if you don't take care of yourself first.

I tell it to people all the time. Maybe someday I'll listen to it myself.

Yay, no call! Now you have no excuse *not* to rest! :)

Thank God! I was too worried about you hobbling around and messing up your knee again!

Enjoy the time off and do NOT feel guilty.

I managed to enjoy (very much) my three days off for my dislocated pinkie toe....so I know it can be done.

In case it sounds like I had TOO much fun taking 'sick days' for that pinkie toe....I spent it elevating my foot while on the couch watching movies...we had just subscribed (the day before) to ALL the premium movie channels on satellite, $2 per month for 5 months special!).....

What amazing timing!

The problem is the huge doctor/mommy guilt complex that I have.

And I fully admit I'm a lousy patient, but this time I HAVE been doing everything - the PT, home exercises, elevation, icing...

It's barely been a week since your surgery! Come on, you know it takes a minimum of 6 weeks to recover 98% of the tensile strength in whatever tissue they cut during the procedure (or so says Robbins, anyway. ;-) ). Doing the right stuff for a few days is good, but I think you need to give yourself some more time to heal. And listen to Dr. Grumpy's advice on this one. :-) I hope you are able to let go of the guilt & get some rest so that you can feel better soon.
