So our hospital is barreling ahead with getting a robot. I don't see it adding value to my case load. I already do single incision hysts - they're called vaginal hysterectomies! ;)
But god was it fun playing with it this afternoon...

My hospital has been using them for years. The surgeons love them.
I'm still not convinced that it's anything other than an expensive toy. But I do love toys...
I do a ton of laparoscopic cases. I'm not seeing a good reason to switch over. To me, it seems fiscally irresponsible to do a case robotically when I can do a case vaginally/through the scope in 30 minutes with instruments that are reusable more than 10 times.
But, what do I know?
They're really fun to play with! If they are as good of a medical device as they are a toy, then you should consider yourself lucky the hospital has gotten one.
