My ladder is rated to hold up to 250 pounds. It should easily support 160 pounds, even if a disproportionate amount of that weight is a pregnant belly. A ladder is much more sturdy than the other height-boosters available (a folding chair or wobbly table).
Pregnant women's center of balance is off from normal. That's why we don't recommend exercises that rely on balance as the belly grows.There is nothing so important that it can't wait. Painting definitely falls into that category.
